Rodzimowierstwo – Slowianowierca – Rodnovery

– « Rodnover for many years and brought up with Polish pagan traditions, (unfortunately taken over by Christianity), here is my humble contribution concerning the legacy that my Ancestors bequeathed me.

– Their pantheon, which has naturally become mine, is unique in Europe, despite strong similarities with other pantheons (Baltic, Celtic, Scandinavian – Germanik, Greek …). Many Gods and Goddesses as well as spirits have no equal in other European cultures. This is what makes Rodnovery most valuable to me and obviously also by my blood, my heritage and my heart.

-This is one of the reasons also that the Slavic people and Slavia (the Slavic world comprising the different countries) remain as special, culturally and cultically rich. It is a people with a hazy and intriguing past but inseparable from the history of Central Europe and, over the time, from most of the existing Europe.

– Many websites exist about Slavic indigenous faith but not many in English and even less in French, hence the creation of this site to present the wealth of this people and its Gods and Goddesses, the world of the invisible and extraordinary beings populating these lands.  »

-1- Slavic divinities:

Rod throne at the highest point of the sky and the brightest (the star of the north). He gave birth to other Gods such as Perun: God of lightning, war and protector of men and Weles: God protector of the world of the dead and soul of these and God of musicians, poetry and success. Others Rodnovers believes that Rod gaves birth to Swarog: the heavenly God, blacksmith God, and himself gave birth to Perun and Weles.

-What ever new Gods were born and after a while their cravings for creation were too strong and they created the earth. Weles went to the bottom of the endless sea and picked up sand, Perun then makes a magical incantation and both they created the earth, our mother earth, a Goddess known as Matka Ziemia.

Perun and Weles will have many disagreements between them during the creation of the earth or when Weles stole the son of Perun, Jarilo / Jarovit: God of the spring of renewal and love, etc.

Swarog had two of the most important sons of the Slavic religion: Swarozic: god of the sacred fire and Dazbog: God of the sun.

-Other Gods and Goddesses exist in the Slavic pantheon such as: Svetovit: God of the harvest, God of war, protector of men (his great temple was on the island of Rügen in Germany and was mainly revered by the Slavs from the west but also by other non-Slavic people).

Mokosz: Goddess of fertility, women and destiny, Lada: Goddess of love and mother of the first Gods, Marzana: Goddess of winter and renewal, Dziewanna: Goddess of the Moon and hunt (the pleasant facet of Marzanna), Triglav: traveler between different worlds and messenger of the Gods (several temples in Szczecin and Wolin), Stribog: God of the winds, Rugievit: God of war, he has seven heads and seven swords (her worship also took place mainly in East Germany in Rügen), Zywie: Goddess of health and healing among Western Slavs, Perperuna / Dodola: Goddess of rain, wife of Perun …

– « This is just a quick glimpse of Slavic divinities, but it shows the complexity and richness of this beautiful mythology… »

-2- Sources:

-To help us rebuild the religion of our ancestors at best, there are several sources (books, archeology, philology, university studies …) that must be studied, compared and especially, for some, learning to read between the lines. The monotheists have taken into their account many of our myths, stories, rites … it is good to dig within these sects and their stories to find our religion and the truth about our traditions.

-In old villages we can also see ancient Pagan rites hidden under the veil of a Christian saint. Processions of « saints » statues are just ancient Pagan ceremonies performed since the beginning of time to bring fertility to the fields, protection, healing, etc. (It all depends on the « saint » or rather the revered God at that time).

-The monotheistic feasts are yet another proof that they have taken everything to better evangelize the peoples and countries subject to politics and money.

-Christmas, Esater, All saints, the fire of saint jean, and many others, are clearly Pagan festivals that we celebrate, unfortunately under other names today and that the church will never succeed to destroying nor stop! They were forced to introduce them into their « religion » and despite the official history, many peoples people continued to honor the ancient divinities in secret and for a few of them until the beginning of 20th century.

-We can therefore easily say that paganism has never really disappeared and is inked deep within us forever.
